Merik Chafa

Merik Chafa of Corning, Iowa passed away on November 26, 2020 at 13 years of age. Merik was born on October 10, 2007 in Thayer, Iowa, and was adopted by Kyle Chafa and Jessica Wilson on December 7 of the same year.

A beautiful white American Bulldog, Merik’s hobbies included chasing squirrels, taking truck rides, watching traffic in “Loomisville,” and eating river rocks. Though she was a typical dog and didn’t much care for mail carriers, Merik was much loved by everyone and never knew a stranger.

When her brother Maddux was born, Merik was a gentle and attentive sister, and when he started school, she always looked forward to walking to meet him after school.

Merik was an avid football fan, and enjoyed watching Nebraska Cornhusker football on Saturdays and NFL football on Sundays from the comfort of her humans’ bed.

Merik was preceded in death by her sister Delilah. She is survived by her parents, Kyle Chafa and Jessica Wilson of Corning, Iowa; brother Maddux Chafa of Corning, Iowa; sister Anastasia Steshina of Heidelberg, Germany; grandparents John and Kathy Bozwell of Corning, Iowa and Scott and Joni Chafa of Prescott, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
